It's that time, when it's cheaper to buy a new computer than it is to fix the problem. Suggestions?

I have a $300 budget for a laptop that will be used for CCTV purposes. Very little internet use, unless my primary goes down. The one I'm using now put up a valiant effort, but in the end technology prevailed.

My only requirement is wide screen. I prefer not to go for Dell or Asus because I have had both and they require major upkeep. Anyone

If you have one of those newer flat screen tvs, they usually have a CCTV button on them that brings up the CCTV scripts. You can leave it on all the time, or just when the sound is muted.

You can get a decent-sized flat screen, with a DVD player on the side, for under three hundred dollars if you shop around.

We would just have to pay for faster internet service.

Thanks for the suggestion!
