My alert traveled backwards through time, and was acted upon in 1969

and a jury decided 0-0 to IT. What does that mean? Was there IT in 1969?

Unix counts up from midnight, January 1st, 1970, Greenwich mean time.

Was there IT in 1969?

God yes. The Internet was like 5 years old at that point.
