I'd get re-married if Roger would sing at my wedding. What a class act.

Roger Daltrey proved that not only is he a rock god, but he can crash a wedding with the best of them. The Who frontman was staying at the Mar Hall resort, near Bishopton, Renfrewshire, for his band's sold-out gig at the Hydro when he met newlyweds Susan and Carl Smith, who had just tied the knot at the very same five-star hotel. Hours after posing for photos with the bride, Roger returned to give his congratulations to the happy couple and to ask permission to sing with the wedding band. And sing he did!

(33,688 posts)than Daltrey. Probably because he never seems to have thought of himself as anything but a regular bloke. He was just an ordinary guy whose job just happened to be lead singer with The Who. The anti-Mick Jagger.

That's one of the reasons The Who are such a great and historic band with such a unique sound. Pete wrote all the songs about blue collar stuff and angst, but never lived it. He was a art school kid from art school parents and musicians. Roger gave Pete's songs the masculinity they needed, and that's pretty much where their sound comes from.
Of course, I'm a huge Who fan, but if you want an example, listen to Pete singing Love Reign O're Me as a demo, and compare it to Roger's guttural, full-throated scream...you'll se what I mean.

(33,688 posts)may be The Who's finest moment, even above "Won't Get Fooled Again.". And Roger's scream gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
Not the greatest video/audio, but it's from 1973, when the band was at its peak and man, is The Ox bringing the thunder:

(21,046 posts)The older I get the more I like Roger.
He seems like a wise, serene person who never lets anything bother him. Kinda like Ringo.
(Already got my tickets for Next April! on tour)
