The shortest reigning king served for twenty minutes when Charles X abdicated the French crown in 1830 after the July Revolution. Rule passed to Louis XIX who nearly immediately resigned.
The longest reigning ruler was the Pharoah, Pepi II, who ruled Egypt from 2278 BC, from the age of six. His reign lasted 94 years.

(10,418 posts)1. Regarding the sculpture.
When I see human made objects that are thousands of years old it always captures my attention, especially when I can see them in person. I am originally from Dayton, Ohio. The Dayton Art Institute has some ancient sculptures and pottery. I think they may actually have a few things that date to the dawn of civilization. It is an enthralling experience for me to stand before a work of art that's 5000 years old. I don't think most people appreciate the gravity of something like that. They just kind of walk by such works without much more than a glance.
I really enjoy your threads here in the lounge.

(2,710 posts)2. Thank you!
It is very strange to see human-made things that are very very old.
Like this mask from 7000 BC. It's bonkers.
