now I'm wondering what might have caused this?
I don't do any drugs, just aspirin and wal-zan acid reducer fron walgreens
I do smoke cigarettes (stupidly)
I had carpet installed early last summer so I'm wondering if the out-gassing from the carpet
threw off the test, I live in CO so windows are closed and I'm stuck with indoor air all winter
Any ideas?
sample was sent in to a lab for further testing
****Edit****

(72,790 posts)Ask them what it was inconclusive for. And ask to retake the test.

(1,819 posts)I tested positive for coke, which I did years ago, but at that time, had not done in 12 years or so. This was fairly early on when employers were just starting the drug testing as a usual thing. I called one of my clients, who's business was writing drug policies and setting up companies as a "drug-free workplace." She told me that if a currrent employer had done the testing, there were steps in their drug-free workplace policy that had to be followed, things that would give me some sort of appeals process.
But as a potential employee, none of this applied to me. Her words to me were along the lines of, how much money do you want to spend to prove you are right, and then do you really want to try to force someone to hire you, with no guarantees at any part of the process.
I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm opposed to drug testing in almost all circumstances.

Rapuri and colleagues say drugs such as pantoprazole, or Protonix, a drug in the proton pump inhibitor class used to treat ulcers and acid reflux, can give a false-positive for marijuana. Moeller says all proton pump inhibitors can give a false reading for mraijuana. In addition, rantidine, or Zantac, also an acid reflux drug, can yield a false-positive for amphetamine, says Moeller.

(41,694 posts)A friend recently flunked a hair follicle test for amphetamines. funny thing is A: He doesn't do speed and B: he smokes pot. turned out out some of the chemicals he works with in his job give a false positive for amphetamine.
took him 4 months and a lot of money to clear that up with CPS in a custody case.

(3,291 posts)If the sample container was contaminated then something errant may have shown up.
Also depends upon the quality control in the lab.
