It was actually about the stewardesses of the '60's. That was back when it was glamorous and fun. The more manageable 707 instead of the huge 747; the uniforms, the fancy meal service; the travel -- I wanted to be a stewardess. I am lucky I was too short to qualify; by the time I would have finished school and been ready to start applying to the airlines, it was already going downhill. I would have been very disappointed. But it must have been wonderful back then.

(16,334 posts)I've known a few flight attendants and I could never be one. I could not stand the passengers!

(16,334 posts)at ass kicking the people who won't get out of the aisle, stay in the bathroom forever, use every overhead compartment within ten feet of their seat, talk loudly to the person four seats over and complain about the temperature of the ginger ale.

(153,169 posts)too f***ing hard - being forced to be NICE to assholes? F***.......I would have a field day.
I can see myself outside that airplane bathroom shouting...."WHAT IS GOING ON IN THERE? JUST HOW FULL OF SHIT ARE YOU? GET THE F*** OUT OF THERE ALREADY."

(17,621 posts)Of course, I would be a little grumpy too, the way passengers are treated like cattle these days. Airline deregulation security hassles, among other things, have turned flying from a fun experience into something to be endured -- and avoided if possible.

(15,805 posts)and often regaled us with stories of her job with PanAm. Thanks to those stories I seriously entertained going into that job. As I was finishing high school my mother read the book "Coffee, Tea or Me?", then pretty much told me what I'd die of if I followed through on that intent. Ah, well. At least I had the '60s to console me . . .
