We were trained to remain very still when shooting.

I'm sure one reason for the rule was to keep us from killing one another.

Can you imagine a mob of U.S. American sixth, seventh and eighth graders running around trying to emulate Lars Andersen?

Do they still teach archery as a P.E. elective for public school middle schoolers anywhere?

Prior to the widespread use of the gun, archers were groomed for the trade pretty much as soon as they could hold a bow.

When I was a kid, we fashioned bows from willow branches, and arrows from the younger, straighter branches. The big advantage with willow was it's flexibility and the easy bark removal. Untrained, I just naturally placed the arrow on the right. We didn't have targets, focusing more on achieving greater height and distance with our crude weaponry.
