"What if I went off and did that!" a good friend ranting about Bruce Jenner...

My husband got a call from our dear friend, Ed, who for some reason is royally ticked off at Jenner's sex change operation. My husband was speechless. Ed is a bit of a strange bird but I don't think he's a candidate for a sex change. My husband finally said "well, if you want to do that, then do that...I wouldn't have a problem with it."

It strongly reminded me of the typical Seinfeld situation where people get in rants over nothing. I'm now a bit concerned about Ed's mental health. He lives alone (he does have a couple of dogs) and was never married. He's a bright enough guy...Yale graduate, attorney doing estate law stuff from his home office, translates books in French into English. He throws a yearly Christmas party that is always nice.

But it was a bizarre incident...

1. Was Jenner a hero to him?

Maybe he thinks he's losing a childhood icon? Don't like to internet analyze but that would be my first thought.

Kind of weird thing to get all worked up over though.

2. No, he's older, maybe 60. Altho he might have been a fan of Jenner's.

I think he was referring to Jenner doing this later in life. Like he should have done it earlier or something. Still, pretty strange...

If the Jenner persona of those days is the Jenner you remember, this transition might come as a bit of a shock. It can be disorienting for some of us.

He (Ed) would do well to talk to someone about that. Yes, a bit bizarre. Who cares if Jenner changes his gender ? One should be happy that now, Mr. Jenner will be more at peace with his inner self, which is always a good thing for everyone.

5. I have to ask this - has Bruce Jenner officially said he is doing this?

Look first and foremost I respect the decision of anyone who goes through this process. However, I know he was part of that whacky Kardasian family and going thru a messy divorce from that PR attention whore of a mom. Maybe I try to avoid any news stories related to this family but I haven't read anything official where Jenner has said that he is making the change - just speculation. And knowing what kind of PR nightmare the Kardashian clan can be I wouldn't hold it past Jenner's former wife to put fake stories out there in the media about her ex-husband.

I saw one cover photo of Bruce on a magazine with him wearing lipstick and well the lipstick looked so fake like it was photoshopped. So I guess as someone who tries to avoid reading anything about this family, could someone please let me know if Jenner has said he (well I guess then it would be she) is transistioning or are we still all just making guesses as to what we are seeing in the media.

7. I didn't know about the back story on Jenner. Frankly, I don't care if he is or is not

seeking a sex change operation. Which is why we were wondering about our friend's anger over the story. Usually a conversation with Ed is more having to do with sports (right now the UCONN women's basketball team) but in the fall it's Ivy League football. Some Ivy hockey too...

I just did a very cursory search, and there's no official or even "semi-official" word. There's photos and "accounts", but no verified information yet.

Esther Jenner, 88, has spoken in an interview with the Associated Press following weeks of speculation surrounding Bruce’s gender identity.

Various media outlets reported that “a source” close to the family had said Jenner, the stepparent of the Kardashian siblings, was about to come out as trans. Others have reported that a TV series will follow the transition.

Asked whether Bruce had raised their gender identity with Esther, she said: “It was brief and I said I was proud of him and that I’ll always love him. I never thought I could be more proud of Bruce when he reached his goal in 1976, but I’m more proud of him now. It takes a lot of courage to do what he’s doing.”

12. I am still not 100% and here's why

First and foremost I do not care what Jenner opts to do because that is a personal choice and one not yet shared to us by Jenner himself (or herself if the story is true)

Sure the mother is a strong link that it could be true. But the source is one that isn't well known. A story like this, even if it was coming from the mother, would be covered by all the major entertainment news sources.

If Jenner is transgender I do truly believe this is a private matter but anything Kardadian related will always be leaked to the public even if is hearsay. Bruce's ex-wife is a master publicity manipulated which explains how her brood of absolutely no-talented kids have stayed in the limelight for as long as they have thanks to one sex tape by a Paris Hilton hanger-on aka Kim Kardashian

9. It could be he was exactly asking, "What if I went off and did that". Lives alone, never

married. Could be he has felt trapped in his body for 65 years and resents that a contemporary is able to break free and he does not feel he can.

10. Ed has had a very sad life. His mother committed suicide. So I am wondering if there

were some very serious emotional problems that he had experienced as a young boy.
