Interesting trend. For those of you who do not know what Shazam is, it's this app where you can hold your Iphone or other smart phone up to the radio/tv that is playing music and it can recognize the song playing and tell you the name of the song an artist. I guess someone trended which song was Shazamed the most. I have the app and I know when I hear a song that I really like but don't know who sings it - I Shazam it. So I'd like to think there alot of people who heard something really good last night and wanted to learn more which was of course the amazing 'Mr Blue Sky' by ELO. I would absolutely love to see a resurgance in ELO and this is a great song to make a comeback because let's face it - I dare someone to listen to this song and not feel happier after listening to it.
Grammys 2015: Most Shazamed Moments Belong to ELO, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran
More than a decade after Electric Light Orchestra's "Mr. Blue Sky" found new earholes to delight in the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the epic song is back again after ELO's Jeff Lynne and Ed Sheeran performed it during the Grammy Awards. According to data provided by music discovery app Shazam, the 1978 song, which reached No. 35 on the Hot 100, provided the most Shazamed moment of the entire telecast.
The song's performance on Shazam may have had something to do with young Sheeran -- ELO's disco-y "Evil Woman" did not make the top 10 -- but fans of the beloved band will take it. All in all, there were 23 performances during the lengthy telecast (we rank them here), and the second-most Shazamed moment belonged to Katy Perry's glowing performance of "By the Grace of God." Sheeran and (his best-friend's ex-boyfriend) John Mayer were third with "Thinking Out Loud."
Other top-Shazamed performances include Hozier's "Take Me to Church," Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani's duet on "My Heart Is Open," and AC/DC's "Highway to Hell." Paul McCartney made a couple appearances in the top 10, first with Rihanna and Kanye West, on "FourFiveSeconds," and again with West on his track "Only One."

(102,351 posts)friends. Even I was pretty good at it. There really isn't much incentive to learn/remember anything anymore, is there? Just sayin..

(3,655 posts)if you use it on Tommy James re-release of Mony Mony it comes back as the Billy Idol version. A kid at work thought he had it until I looked up the playlist at the station.

(46,436 posts)but I can see how it might get confused if the renditions are similar. The songs I was using it on were in a totally different style from the original.

(3,655 posts)Billy Idol can't sing like that. The songs sound alike and the Tommy James version was a new release(probably not in the database yet).
