Apparently the original Shondells broke up in the intervening time and a new group with the same name later formed. I don't know if my info source on #13 in 1963 is correct. And you may be right that this is the 1966 version.

I would have been about one year old or less when it came out so I don't remember it although I probably heard it on the TV hit parade. My mom loved all the current tunes. This is probably the earliest song I remember and came out in 1951. I would have been two. I used to sing this and play air guitar to my grand mom when we visited her. It peaked at #2 on billboard. It's about a fishing village that sees the fishermen off and then celebrates when they come back with the catch. Pretty tame stuff I guess compared to today
