Year of the sheep (goat, or ram) is among the animals that people like most. It is gentle and calm. 7. In my church

we start on Monday the 23rd. (Orthodox.) It's called Clean Monday.

9. We are having the pancake games on Tuesday.

Lots of silliness with pancakes on the evening before Ash Wednesday. Then we are encouraged to add a spiritual practice for Lent, not give something up. A nice shift of emphasis.

11. not a practicing Catholic, but for some reason I always eat fish on Fridays during lent.......

that practice was drummed into me that I still abstain from meat on Fridays.

14. I'm a very non practicing Catholic...........

but I eat fish every Friday, it's a good way to get it into your diet. When I worked in a group home ( a weekend block) I always served fish for the residents. It was a good way to get it into their diets, as during the week, I saw they were served lots of casseroles and meat and potato dishes.

I love fish and could eat it more than once per week, but I tend to make it on Fridays, for the sake of having it in my husband and youngest daughter's diet.
