Sponsored by Lego who supplies boxes and boxes of Lego parts. At regular intervals they have meetings and the kids plan and build things. The librarians supply books about various engineers and builders as inspiration - and of course to try to encourage the kids to read.

If nothing else, it is successful at getting kids into the libraries. When we had our needlework group Stitch In Public Day last Saturday in the middle of the branch library, the meeting room was full of kids making marvelous things and coming into the library to find books on various things.

It was fun seeing a library full of life!

... has an entire division devoted to constructing custom creations of pretty much anything you can imagine.I used to work for a company that built the clock towers for F.A.O. Schwarz toy stores; the one in the Tom Hanks movie, "BIG" was the first one we built. Anyway, Lego made the Checker cab on that tower, and the cable car for the tower I designed in San Francisco.
Those guys are geniuses with Legos!

My sons' interest in visiting the source of legos (Billund, Denmark) was instrumental in our first and only trip abroad to do a bike-riding tour of Denmark. We greatly enjoyed the visit with sights such as these.

At this original LEGOLAND, we took a mini-water craft ride around structure after structure of mini lego models such as the source thread.
One of my favorite lego creations was in the US section. There we saw a model of Sitting Bull juxtaposed to a lego creation of Mt. Rushmore.

I've never been there, but I've seen pix of the miniature town and other creations. Lego does have a North American Customer Service division .
