Cat owners showing off their feline friends in fundraiser for shelter

Chloe was crowned the winner of the first Purrfect Pageant, a fundraiser for the Aggieland Humane Society.

Bryan, TX -- After being named the Aggieland Humane Society's queen of the Purrfect Pageant, Chloe spent the past year as the shelter's "spokescat," making appearances and getting her photograph taken on a purple throne.

The 5-year-old brown domestic short-haired cat, adopted from the Aggieland Humane Society, was the first winner of the Purrfect Pageant, a fundraiser for the local animal shelter that pits felines against each other on a quest to raise the most funds. The top three fundraisers win prizes and are named Aggieland Humane Society royalty.

Tracey Forman's Queen Chloe won the top title last year after raising $535 of the $1,447 collected during the 2014 campaign. Princess Lola and Duchess Vera rounded out the top three.

The key to winning is a good biography and photo, Forman said. She encourages this year's contestants to use social media to ask friends and family for donations but to also reach out to the community through promos and fundraising dinners.
