Mrs. Lib is doing very well. Coming home tomorrow

The rehab at home will be a real challenge for us since she has the effects of a stroke on her remaining side. So in effect she has two really bad arms.

I will be nurse maiding for the next several weeks, so will probably still have little time to post.

Thanks so much for all those good lounge vibes and wishes. I know you folks really care.

As challenging as it will be, I know others have been through much worse. We have survived some pretty rough times and your good thoughts help.

mild stroke in 2008. I was ok after a month of disability and physical therapy so mentioning my situation probably isn't that helpful except that I'm a stroke survivor of sorts. More importantly - one of my co-workers suffered a series of stokes and was in hospital and then rehab. in time she recovered use of limbs. It will get better. Best wishes to both of you.

Be sure to take care of yourself, too. Caregivers frequently forget this. It's hard to be useful to someone else when you don't take care of yourself, too.

I don't know if you are on Medicare or not, but if home health care is offered, TAKE IT!! I was very sick last year, hospitalized so long that I lost tone in my legs and had trouble walking. At that time, I met the criteria of "home-bound". I took the offer and had a physical therapist twice a week for six weeks. When my incision wasn't healing properly, the PT called in a registered nurse to take over maintenance of the wound. I'm sure I got back on my feet sooner and better than I would have without the help. And the wound healed faster once the RN took over. I was also offered more personal care (bathing, hair-washing, dressing, etc.) but I didn't need that. And what did this all cost me through Medicare? Ready for this? NOTHING!!!

Hope it all works out for you. Greetings to your wife.
