What Are Singers'/Bands' Signature Songs?

Maybe bands don't have signature songs as much as singers do.

I'm not thinking of most popular songs. I'm thinking of songs that, when you hear them, make you think, "No one sings 'My Way' like Frank Sinatra. He owns that song."

Here are a few that I can think of.

Frank Sinatra - My Way
Kate Smith - God Bless America
Andy Williams - Moon River

For some reason, I can only think of oldies right now. How about you?

And so would most die-hard Led Zeppelin Fans.

It would really be a tie between Kashmir or Whole Lotta Love.

Page liked Stairway for the Guitar solo. Plant thought the song was a piece of shit and most of the diehard fans felt the same way as Plant.

I'd still go with "Kashmir" or "Whole Lotta Love"

"Stairway to Heaven" is a joke of bad musical writing

I don't really need to post it, do I? "C'mon, you know the riff"
The ironic thing is that its instrumentation is unlike the archetypical "Lou Reed song" (two electric guitars, bass, drums)

Some are first big hits, some are not, some were written by others, some were not, but here goes:

Bruce Hornsby--"The Way It Is"
Jim Morrison--"Light my Fire"
Janis Joplin--"Me And Bobby McGee"
Grace Slick--"White Rabbit"
Linda Ronstadt--"Blue Bayou"
Don Henley (The Eagles)--"Hotel California"
Mark Knopfler--"Money For Nothing" (Some might argue Sultans of Swing or Walk of Life, but this was my pick)
Leo Kottke--"Pamela Brown" (Some might argue "Louise&quot
James Brown--"This Is A Man's World"
Jesse Colin Young (with the Youngbloods)--"Get Together"
Jerry Jeff Walker--"Mr. Bojangles"
Joe McDonald (Country Joe)--"Feeling Like I'm Fixing to Die Rag"
Steely Dan--"Do It Again"
Tom Johnston (Doobie Brothers)--"China Grove"
Hannes Wader--Der Rattenfänger von Hameln (some might say "Es Ist an der Zeit", the German version on Bogle's "No Man's Land&quot
Edith Piaf--"Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien"
Raimon--"Diguem No"
Eric Bogle--"No Man's Land"
Buffy Ste. Marie--"Now That The Buffalo's Gone"
Paul Butterfield--"Born in Chicago"
Eric Clapton--"Layla"
John Lennon--"Imagine"
Roy Orbison--"Pretty Woman"
Jackson Browne--tie between "Take It Easy" and "Running On Empty"
Alvin Lee--"Goin' Home"
Tom Lehrer--"The Vatican Rag"
Sylvester Stallone--"Dance To The Music" (some might opt for "Everyday People&quot
Bill Withers--"Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone"
Paul Simon--controversial choice whatever I pick, but I'm going with "The Boxer"
Art Garfunkel--"Bridge Over Troubled Water"
Steve Martin Caro (with the Left Banke)--"Walk Away Renée"
Jerry Reed--"Eastbound and Down"
Jimi Hendrix--"Hey Joe" (not his best, but definitely his signature song IMHO)
SRV--"Pride and Joy"
Johnny Winter--"Rock And Roll Hootchie Koo"
Maddie Pryor (with Steeleye Span)--Coal Black Smith

and my list would have gone on for two more hours if I had had them.........
