Joni Mitchell is unconscious in the hospital and unable to make medical decisions for herself, according to the Associated Press.

The information comes from a court filing from Leslie Morris, Mitchell's friend for more than 44 years, who is seeking to be named Mitchell's conservator.

The filing includes a declaration from a doctor stating the 71-year-old folk singer will likely be unable to attend any court hearings for the next four to six months. No other details on her condition or prognosis were included in the filing, according to the AP.

Maybe it's just to difficult for her to hold thoughts together, or her short term memory is impaired.

Any number of reasons, but anything would be pure speculation...
