(55,012 posts)6. transparency!
it is a discussion about overzealous locking of posts (especially in GD)
he says:
If a thread is not causing any harm, if people are posting in it and recommending it and having a good time, then DON'T SPOIL THE FUN.
You are not being paid by the thread lock. Your bias should be toward letting things stay. If a thread isn't causing any harm, then it's probably fine.
If you really do think it is necessary to lock a thread, then you should discuss it with your fellow Hosts, here in this group, before you do anything.
(The admins are going to make some changes to the software to change the way the Forum Hosts do your job. But unfortunately we have a million other things on our plate right now. So until then, we need you guys to be cool and use your powers sparingly.)
Does everyone understand?
To be clear: This post is for FORUM Hosts, not Group Hosts. But if you are a host of a Group, you would also be wise to use your powers sparingly. Just sayin'.

(55,012 posts)7. I wonder if I can lock my own post?
then I would finally get to try my power!

(12,272 posts)9. Why not try it
But doesn't a different host have to unlock it? You might want to work that out ahead of time BTW, I am so glad Lounge hosts don't over use their power.
