The DU Lounge

When last we fairly met, I asked for Lounge expertise on the laying of a slab in an historic cemetery that is similar but smaller than the one in New Orleans featured in Easy Rider. As usual Lounge came through, with particular thanks to Kali (hubby) and PanaderO, who emphasized a 4" depth. So... it's DONE!1 I had gotten approval from the dude in charge, of course, the whole purpose of this project being to deal with the totally dwindled down number of surviving relatives who CARE (my elder sister and me), such that after us nobody would be tending the maintenance via gardener.
So here 'tis. Upper left was the way my mother and sister used to keep it many years back, with good grass. Upper right was a few weeks ago when the whole cemetery was overgrown with weeds. Bottom left was after I weeded it with a hoe, roots and all, and weedeated. And bottom right is the slab. It doesn't look fantastic, the cement still wet/gray, will whiten some with drying, but I will see about cement paint/stain for all-white. It looks a bit better than this, with a line all along the perimeter separating from the border.

(26,117 posts)Seems like I'm remembering that. Still, paint will tie it all together. Really nice job.

You can still see the aggregate stone as it dries at a different rate.
We used to get lots of calls from customers concerned their new concrete had "spots"

I'm glad the Lounge came through for you and your grandparents.

(206,247 posts)And a good reminder for me. I haven't been to the cemetery for quite awhile. My brother goes and keeps track of things, but he and I are the only ones who are local.
