He looks too cute to be real, like a Sanrio character. Is this the work of the Japanese?

Seriously, he is so sweet he's making my molars ache.

I did not think a polar bear cub would be so small!

...why he looks too cute to be real.

The real one is still a cutie pie. I've had a weak spot for polar bear cubs ever since darling little Knut took the world by storm...

They were born in 1994.

I lived in Colorado when Klondike and Snow were born and they were the big news for a long time (especially because they had rickets and nobody knew if they'd survive). They were saved by adding cod liver oil to their diet. I even got to photograph them at the zoo before they were relocated.

This video is full of squee.

I just want to reach through the screen and rub those little bellies!

I'm not sure quite how to put it but there is something uniquely moving about seeing an animal that will become so powerful and majestic in it's little baby squee phase. Thank you for sharing.

I bought a VHS tape (from the zoo) of their lives beginning at birth, till they were almost old enough to be relocated to Sea World, and I don't have a working VHS player any more, so I am glad there is a youtube video out there now. I had forgotten the adorable finger suckling. They really were all everyone in Denver area were interested in when the daily news came on, until they recovered from the rickets. They were "our" babies.

Unfortunately, they are both deceased now.
