(35,290 posts)that song has the lines:
Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it's not too late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate
can't endorse this one

(62,416 posts)we think the significant other is being blamed in that song for driving them crazy, but it is Hillary!

(14,691 posts)I recall this song was very controversial at the time (mid '60s?) and critics said it ridiculed the insane (and it probably did) HOWEVER it absolutely fits this ever-expanding crowd of, well, NUTS. Are there ANY normal Republicans out there anymore?

An offbeat Irish comedy from the early 1990s, about a group of Dubliners who form a "soul" band
is called "The Commitments"...and they do a version of "Chain of Fools" that is outstanding.
KamaAina
(78,249 posts)much more up-tempo than the Al Green version.

(27,804 posts)Mum took me to see it in southern Connecticut. She even got the soundtrack! I've even seen it broadcast on TV!

(27,804 posts)Their version of "Dark Side of the Street" is outstanding!
I think my favorite scene is at the roller skating rink, where they are playing a gig, and Mick the drummer sees Jimmy the manager getting slapped around by the bully at the bar & Mick leaves the stage & proceeds to bash his head into the bully's nose.

(10,998 posts)"Pigs (Three Different Ones)"
Big man, pig man, ha ha, charade you are
You well heeled big wheel, ha ha, charade you are
And when your hand is on your heart
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost a joker
With your head down in the pig bin
Saying "keep on digging"
Pig stain on your fat chin
What do you hope to find?
When you're down in the pig mine
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry.
Bus stop rat bag, ha ha, charade you are
You fucked up old hag, ha ha, charade you are
You radiate cold shafts of broken glass
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost worth a quick grin
You like the feel of steel
You're hot stuff with a hat pin
And good fun with a hand gun
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry.
Hey you Whitehouse, ha ha, charade you are
You house proud town mouse, ha ha, charade you are
You're trying to keep our feelings off the street
You're nearly a real treat
All tight lips and cold feet
And do you feel abused?
.....!.....!.....!.....!
You gotta stem the evil tide
And keep it all on the inside
Mary you're nearly a treat
Mary you're nearly a treat
But you're really a cry

(22,239 posts)Look inside, look inside your tiny mind
Then look a bit harder
'Cause we're so uninspired, so sick and tired
Of all the hatred you harbor
So you say it's not okay to be gay
Well, I think you're just evil
You're just some racist who can't tie my laces
Your point of view is medieval
Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
'Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So please don't stay in touch
Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
'Cause your words don't translate
And it's getting quite late
So please don't stay in touch
Do you get, do you get a little kick
Out of being small minded?
You want to be like your father
It's approval you're after
Well, that's not how you find it
Do you, do you really enjoy
Living a life that's so hateful?
'Cause there's a hole where your soul should be
You're losing control a bit
And it's really distasteful
Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
'Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So please don't stay in touch
Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
'Cause your words don't translate
And it's getting quite late
So please don't stay in touch
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
Fuck you
You say you think we need to go to war
Well, you're already in one
'Cause it's people like you that need to get slew
No one wants your opinion
Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
'Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So please don't stay in touch
Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
'Cause your words don't translate
And it's getting quite late
So please don't stay in touch
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you

"Born To Lose", recorded by Ray Charles in 1962, was written by country singer/songwriter
Ted Daffan in 1942.
Daffan also wrote the very popular "Truck Driver's Blues" in 1939.
