I suppose it would be something they wouldn't like. I have used cinnamon for ants, but have not heard about peppermint oil.

Hope you find something that works!

I've had good luck with the "Little Giant SureCatch Multiple Catch Mouse Trap". There are other things that are similar and they probably work, too. Mice entering the trap go over a couple of tilting ramps to get inside and, once inside, they cannot get back out. Unlike a regular mouse trap, this will clean out a whole family of them in one night.

Contrary to what the instructions say, I find that it must be baited. Crushed peanuts work. (Peanut butter, which draws ants, is not necessary.) The only issue some might have with this thing is that it is a live trap and it is necessary to dispose of the live occupants of the trap in some appropriate way.

screams and jumps on the chair when rodents appear. so, i use high preventative measures:

mint and tea tree oil saturated cotton balls in the corners of cabinets, behind the fridge, stove, under the sink, etc. WARNING: these essential oils can be deadly to pets and harmful to children. do not place essential oils in areas which can be accessed by pets or children.

plug/seal around all plumbing into the house (ice maker plumbing to fridge/freezer) or around vents for stoves, a/c, etc.

sweep up all spilled foods/grains (oatmeal, corn, rice, cereals, etc) - daily.

add mint oil to mopping water/mop

limit food intake to the kitchen - never on sofas or in bedroom/on bed

put away pet food left over from bowls - do not leave out in the open

do not leave any foodstuffs on the counter - try to store as many foodstuffs as possible in the fridge

use storage tight containers for all food that is not in a glass jar or plastic container

store large bags of pet food in a sealed container. (large bags of dog food in a trash can with a tight fitting lid. sweep up andy spills).

the multiple trap sounds good because you want to get rid of every single mouse and deter any others from coming into your home.

if you have forced air heating - they use the vents to enter into the safest hiding places to sleep, multiply, and to run around to wherever there is food.

block or fill any gaps along mouldings- especially at the base. those teeny creatures can squeeze through any teeny tiny hole or crack.

make sure all of your sliding doors, unscreened windows, etc are closed immediately after use - especially once fall temps begin to drop or if you live near open fields or orchards during harvest season.

i do not recommend those high frequency wall plugs to repel rodents and insects - especially around babies, any and all pets, children or elderly folks and just about anyone with heart pacemakers, or other heart disease issues. yes, i know they are advertised as "safe" - so, where are the studies to prove one way or the other? from personal experience, i can say these things are not safe for many persons and other animals.

my best, hopemountain

where a pet can get them. Essential oils can be deadly to dogs and cats. A friend made the. mistake of using an "all natural" flea treatment on her cat. It was made specifically for cats and had mint and other types of essential oils. Almost immediately the cat got lethargic and became so I'll my friend thought she might die. It was touch and go for a while, but kitty eventually pulled through.

There are no children or pets here so at least I don't have to worry about that.

Closing cracks is my priority right now.

placed inside one of those plastic humane traps that doesn't kill them. I must have driven back and forth from the park two dozen times to dump each one of them. They were getting caught just minutes after I placed the traps. It seems they can't resist the smell of peanut butter.

It works, it doesn't break, and it's easy to set up. I bought mine from a pet store in my neighborhood but you can get them online from PETA or Amazon.
