TENSI'm trying one out for the deadly shoulder pain I get from time to time because of a car accident.
So far, it is kind of weird, but it actually does help. Narcotic pain pills have never worked for me and the only thing that ever gave me relief when I had shoulder flare ups are cortisone shots.
This has the relief, I'd say somewhere between a cortisone shot and ibuprofen.
I'm not advocating, just trying it out, and it seems to work.
If you have ever had intense shoulder pain, you know you will try any damn thing.

(149,632 posts)It's been more than a few years since I was a nurse, but I recall patients who got real relief from such a device.
I'm really glad it's helping you!

I try to work out at least 3 or 4 times a week, and having a bum shoulder is problematic.
This actually seems to work, though. It feels weird, though LOL.

(16,383 posts)Haven't used it for a long time. Remembering it takes a while to set up and stuff. So glad it's giving you some relief. I also remember there is something of a cumulative effect, too; so the more you use it, the more relief you'll feel. (At least I did.)

(39,961 posts)and already my shoulder feels like a million bucks. It took a while, but I'll be damned - it works!
I did have to shift it around a bit, and it isn't the most convenient of things, but hell, it's my new favorite thing. My shoulder was *killing* me, and it is a lot better.

(39,961 posts)It's kind of odd to use at first, and it's probably easier if someone helps you position it correctly with the pads.
I know it sounds like nutty stuff, but it worked for me. I got the one ICY HOT makes. I've heard the others that are a little more expensive work better, but I wasn't ready to invest a whole lot in case it was woo.
Well, consider my experience - it for certain is not woo. It takes a while for the relief to set in, and you have to adjust it, but my GOD, once you get it just right, it is kind of nuts how well it melts the pain from a throb, to a mild ache to ... nothing.
It really does work. I was pleasantly surprised.
Here is the science behind it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcutaneous_electrical_nerve_stimulation
I don't know where you live, but here are some links:

If it helps 1 person out of 10 so they don't have to be on drugs, it's worth it.
I might get this one for my own Dad with bad knees: http://www.cvs.com/shop/home-health-care/other-daily-living-aids/electrotherapy/omron-electrotherapy-pain-relief-device-pm3030-skuid-906989

(1,232 posts)various, countless injuries over the years, I really hope it's working for you!
Oddly enough, for all my injuries and with suffering decades of continuous chronic pain upper back; whiplash, severe sprains, înched nerves, sciatica, piriformis syndrome, ruptured ankle tendons & ligaments, dislocated knees, recent vein stripping surgery that has gone very poorly, etc, etc, I recently discovered the simplest, cheapest most effective pain relief I've ever experienced (outside of the bliss of anesthesia and morphine).... Arnica Montana gel.
Seriously, none of the endless types of pain pills or anti inflammatories ever worked for me, so I would choke down up to 3600 mgs of ibuprofin per day during really bad episodes. I'm lucky I still have a liver!
Oh. My. Gawd. I had completely forgotten what it was like to have entire days, let alone hours, free of chronic pain.
This morning I wiped out again and badly gouged and scraped my shin. By noon it was screaming and swelling up to giant size. An hour ago I put the gel on it and now.... almost nothing. I put it on my 12,000 bug bites and the burn I got from the iron last night too. ZING.. ZAP, gone.
And I am a skeptic. That homeopathic stuff??? Nah, it can't possibly work! It never has before!
I got the gel from a gal I work for, who happens to be the top athlete in the world in her sport... She's like, 'Hedge, girl, seriously, just TRY this, it works!'
So, if you haven't tried it, do. There are pills as well, which I have not tried, but in reading up on it, they seem like winners too. It's not expensive and is easy to find. I sincerely hope you can escape the vicious cycle of chronic pain!!!

(1,136 posts)I had an annular tear in C5 and C6 disks a year ago. So painful. The physical therapist I went to had advanced training on spine issues and he would hook me up to one when I was there after he tortured me for an hour. It was VERY weird at first, but like you, was stunned it made it stop hurting. It worked so well I bought one for myself and used it daily while getting over that injury.
I'm really glad it's helping you. Nothing worse than being in pain.
