On July 17, 1955, Walt Disney opened the gates to Disneyland for the first time. Decades have passed since then but none of the magic has faded, as Disneyland continues to enchant guests of all ages.

(4,033 posts)Disneyworld in Florida. I spent 3 days, and I honestly didn't have a good time. I just didn't get all the hoopla about it. Well that's just me.

(332 posts)Lived not far from Anaheim and remember it well. It was thrilling for an 8 year old. Went at least once a year until I left CA in 1972. Every time relatives came to visit we went I always said Disneyland and San Diego zoo were the very best things about CA, maybe the only good things..............

Love Disneyland, but did not like Disney World because we were there at the beginning of July and the humidity and bugs drove me nuts. I am allergic to just about every bug which decided to dine on me!

(21,675 posts)I was born exactly 4 months later. We lived in OC, and my dad had a second job at D-land when it first opened. He was an operator on the put-put cars (can't recall the real name).
Thanks for the memories!
