A Turkish couple spent their wedding day feeding 4,000 refugees

A Turkish couple shared their wedding day with 4,000 Syrian refugees last week, opting out of a flashy reception to instead dish out hot meals to those in need.

The couple, Fethullah Üzümcüoğlu and Esra Polat, were married in the southern Turkish city of Kilis, located on the Syrian border, on July 30. The area is currently home to thousands of refugees who have fled Syria's bloody civil war.

There is a refugee camp in the city, but thousands who don't live there are struggling to provide for their most basic needs.

The Turkish charity Kimse Yok Mu (KYM) has been providing hot meals for the refugees for years, and the couple reached out to cover a portion of the cost of the food on their wedding day. They then decided to come out to help distribute some of the food themselves; a video shows the pair dishing out meals to the refugees, while still dressed in wedding attire.
