August 7 and I guess summer's over.

I just hit 4 places looking for a string of party lights for my deck and nobody's got them anymore. Packed up and put away. And teams of clerks everywhere apparently in the process of putting all the summer gear away. Getting ready for Halloween, no doubt.
Again, AUGUST 7.
In Chicago we have such a short stretch of nice weather. May is iffy and things go downhill fast in October. It's fucking sadistic to be pulling the summer stuff this early. Yet another reason why I find myself shopping more and more online.

I don't understand this rush to sweep the summer away in a part of the country where we're so desperate for it to arrive each year. I've got to move to somewhere where fucking winter isn't hanging over our heads like an executioner's sword.

They didn't have any summer stuff left even on clearance!

I was thinking about buying a cheap blow up pool but none of the stores have them any more. Oh well, I guess I can jump in the 800 gallon horse trough I use for my fish pond - but the fish will freak out and frogs would probably jump on my head.
