Anyone have any experience with Advantage Rent a Car?

I'm using them on an extended weekend trip next month.

I never used them before, don't know if I even heard of them before, but apparently they're a nationwide deal at many airports. I picked them when Travelocity gave me a price from them that was hard to refuse ($74 for a Friday through Monday rental, fees and taxes included.)

Curious about them, I went online. Some of the customer reviews are less than stellar. A lot of complaining about high pressure to upcharge. But having rented cars for over 15 years now, I can honestly say I've never once fallen victim for paying extra. Never paid for additional insurance, for pre-paid fuel or for a different class of car. So I'd like to say I'm one-up on the game.

My reservation is technically for a mid-sized SUV but to be honest I only reserved for the rate and I don't care if they place me in a compact. I'm travelling alone without a lot of luggage so I don't need anything big.

But I was just wondering about anyone else's experience given that I've never used them and some of the negative reviews.

they won't upgrade you to a smaller car, they'll upgrade you to a car that costs more to fuel -- so never pay for an upgrade

as for insurance if you have your own insurance and you're comfortable with it, just smlie and keep repeating that your insurer will cause problems if you have duplicate insurance (which they will so don't buy their insurance if you have collision/comprehensive or some other insurance to cover your travel)

my guess is every rental car company has some negative reviews, can't say for sure but i've used every cheap ass company in vegas and a decent percent of the west coast and on into canada -- from dollar to advantage to enterprise and if you're pretty chill it will be fine
