DUers of history

Saw this guy's name in a book, and it sorta cracked me up.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Duer_%28Continental_Congressman%29

The note in the book calls him a crook.

"One of the principal profiteers of this situation was former Secretary of the Treasury William Duer, at this time in partnership with Secretary of War Henry Knox in a real estate scheme in New England and similarly a cohort of Alexander Hamilton. His maneuverings with the quartermastering that was supposed to supply St. Clair with necessary goods was actually preventing its accomplishment and at the same time lining his own pockets - a public thievery that was exposed much too late." "A Sorrow in our heart" p. 900

Apparently an evil DUer.
