Can you picture what will be, so limitless and free
Desperately in need, of some, stranger's hand
In a, desperate land

(66,382 posts)expanded in Jim Morrison's mind to become an epic tale of disillusionment, insanity, and murder...
I guess one has to expect that from The Doors...

(66,382 posts)Did you know 'Wintertime Love' is a waltz?
So technically not rock and roll, which is 4/4 time?...
marym625

And I love Wintertime Love

(17,997 posts)Very cool. You have to sing along. I do too but I'm not a baritone. Just love to sing.
Aristus
(66,382 posts)listen to their music over in Vietnam.
That surprised me.
Growing up, all we ever listening to around the house was Glen Campbell, The Fifth Dimension, The Carpenters, and Wes Montgomery.
That was my parents' idea of funky...

(17,997 posts)But they loved folk music. Heard Joni Mitchell, The Kingston Trio, The Weavers, Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, etc.
Going to listen to some more Doors while I fall asleep
Good night. Thanks for the nice musical chat
Good night...

(5,604 posts)The Beach Boys may be the official band of summer. But The Doors are the official band of summer nights (and everything cool, and a little more 'adult' that occurs between sunset to sunrise).

(54,403 posts)In DC in the late sixties, I used to play in a band called the Clockwork Orange (3 years BEFORE the film came out--we got our idea only from the book, which most people in the States hadn't heard of).
When we played Light My Fire, we learned the whole long version, note for note, and I had my keyboard set up so that I could play bass on a bass keyboard with my left hand and organ with my right hand, just like Manzarek did (I had set this up before we ever had heard of the Doors).
One of my biggest teenage thrills was at some gig when we were in the middle of the LMF instrumental break and I heard someone shout to another "I thought it was the Doors playing!" I usually played just straight bass guitar, but could play a fair keyboard, too, in my day.
