Now as an adult enjoys Lawrence Welk, her parents watched it and she has returned to their values. Needless to say, she is a repug now and we don't keep in touch.

and found them really creepy. The Lennon Sisters were the only act that held up out of the weird, audio-animatronic context of the Welk show.

Never saw it as a kid. In my boyhood my family watched Jackie Gleason (mom) or All-Star Wrestling (dad) on Saturday nights. I'd wander back and forth between the two.

I was 20 then, and remember hearing the Brewer & Shipley version it on the radio.

It's a combination of remembering watching them with my grandpa when I was little... and laughing my ass off at how tacky and creepy it is.

We were hypnotized. Then his drummer and guitar player walked into the house. I'm not sure which was funnier, the husband trying to justify sitting around on a Friday nite before a gig watching Lawrence Welk, or the drummer trying to convince the guitar player that they should all wear matching leisure suits...seriously.
