don't want to jinx it, but it looks like Christmas may be "on" for me

I was going to donate dog food bags to somebody who makes them into totes for the humane society. They don't do it any more. Instead of searching around for somebody to give the bags to, I started thinking about doing it myself.

I looked into the sewing machines on craigslist and uncle henry's. When I looked up reviews on current models, they were flimsy, cheap, unreliable, etc. Even the more expensive ones.

Then I saw a vintage pre-WW2 singer in good working order with it's old manual about 2 hours drive from here. This was a couple weeks ago and I was still in a $$ knothole, so had to wait. It dawned on me that I had never gotten around to putting up the LL Bean game cameras -- after the argument with my neighbor, he's settled down a lot and is really trying to be a decent neighbor. The cameras were unused -- hadn't even broken the seal on one of them. So I was able to return them, which freed up the cash I needed to buy the vintage singer.

So I looked for it yesterday...gone. But another one popped up just a half hour away at the same price! I just saw it...gorgeous. Beautiful silver filagree on the front. Beautiful decals. Newly refinished cabinet.

So, dog willing, tomorrow I pull the cash and grab it before somebody else does! I've just looked up the model -- looks like it was made in Scotland...it has the "RAF" decals! It's from June, 1935.

I have a couple of them myself!

Watch out for the button hole maker...if you screw up, it's a bear to undo!

My mom bought it for me at an estate sale. It works wonderfully.

Hope you get yours!

Pix to come tomorrow when there is more light and after I've wiped the dust off her.

Fitting her into my civic was an adventure, but as soon as I saw her yesterday I knew she'd fit. Getting back out again was a breeze and much faster without grumpy gus Mr. Seller insisting on trying his ways first and moaning about how she'd never fit, lol. Got it into the house, then immediately showed some discipline and put the car in the garage. As I was closing the garage door, it started to rain. Talk about j.i.t.!

Mrs. Seller loaded me up with several packs of extra needles and found 3 matching bobbins, leaving me with 4 total. She left thread on so I could see how to thread it -- very complicated. Now I have to figure out how to get the bobbin thread through, since she took it apart to go searching for matching bobbins!

I've also found video instructions online for the same model. She's model 15K -- according to the singer website their most popular, biggest selling model ever. But Wiki barely gives her model a mention, and says 4 other models were the most popular or bestest or something.

Mrs. Seller again brought up the topic of me calling her if I need any help at all. She'd mentioned coming to my place yesterday to help me. This time, Mr. Seller was there and started moaning how she couldn't possibly help me over the phone. While I answered I could find plenty of help on the internet, she said, "I'm not that far, she could drive down and visit (mumblety mumblety).

She was so eager to offer yesterday, and then to bring it up again today and seeing how grumpy Mr. S is, I wondered if maybe she's just looking for an excuse to get out of the house and visit a girlfriend...

another thing I found on youtube -- various video instructions on how to make them. I pulled one of the bags out this afternoon and discovered a mouse got into it Hopefully only one bag is destroyed. I'd hate to think they're all wrecked
