(2,807 posts)I think it was alive before, just trimmed down to a trunk. Nice sculpture though. Might still sprout some new growth out of the bottom where there is still a ring of bark.

There's a bunch of tree-sculptures in Galveston now because artists there turned many of the trees that had been killed by standing saltwater after Hurricane Ike. Lots of talent out there for that kind of thing
It makes me wonder if anyone did this after Hurricane Sandy...

(41,991 posts)We love those live oaks, but some just couldn't survive all that wind and salt water. An artist made them into leaping Dolphins, sea birds, a beautiful memorial.
