(22,899 posts)I don't mean dunking the chips in milk, though-- just chips as the snack and milk as the beverage.
BUT I do like the combined taste of potato chips and chocolate.
Maybe that will evoke an EEEEK from someone!!!!

(12,132 posts)without crunchy Cheet-Os on it. Puffy ones do not count. If I see cheetos in the grocery bag when my wife comes home I know one night I'm getting PB&J for dinner. (or if it's on the list when she sends me to the store)
my wife's family is fond of cutting off chunks of cheddar cheese and dropping them in hot, black coffee and scooping the melted cheese out and eating it. They then throw the coffee away.

(20,043 posts)My husband's family is from Puerto Rico, apparently it's a thing there. Or at least with his family and their friends cuz they all do it too. But they drink the coffee.
OriginalGeek
(12,132 posts)person I've ever talked to that has even heard of doing that. I think my wife said that it was her father's people that started doing it - and they are all from Georgia but he lived here in Florida for 60+ years. Maybe that's close enough to Puerto Rico to spill over? lol

(54,256 posts)Damn.
You just reminded me.
For whatever reason, my mom would make tuna fish salad, spread it on white bread, and serve it with hot cocoa in winter.
And I'd dip my sandwich in the cocoa and LOVED it.
I may have to try that again.
Thanks for the memory.

(32,093 posts)Make a "sandwich" with butter and graham crackers. Dunk then in coffee with milk. We would also break up graham crackers in a bowl, pour coffee with milk over them, and eat them like hot cereal. Haven't had either in ages. I'll bet both would be good with hot chocolate, instead of coffee.

(12,629 posts)You know, some people say that you can't go back in time. I disagree. You can go back, whenever you want...you just can't stay.
Go get some graham crackers, butter them up real good, then dunk them in some coffee with milk, and enjoy.
Let us know how it went. I'm all for "going back". It's a good thing.
Besides, you deserve it.
GoCubsGo
(32,093 posts)Was thinking about doing just that! I don't know if I'll do the butter thing, but I may just do the "hot cereal" version. It's extra good with cinnamon graham crackers!

(26,117 posts)Cheese and jelly sandwich (I suspect, now that I'm an adult, that my mom gave us this when we were out of other food).
PB & dill pickle sandwich - I still eat these once in a while.
My dad would eat a slice of white bread covered in ketchup, open face, with a fork. blech
Sometimes he would do the same with butter & sugar instead of ketchup.
My grandma used to eat mashed potato sandwiches (probably satisfied some sort of lefsa jones - lol)

(1,725 posts)with cold slices of butter mixed with dark Kero syrup then dip each bite sized piece in ketchup. I've been eating pancakes that way for well over 60 years. It used to draw unwanted attention in restaurants years ago, but thankfully that's stopped.

An individual packet of salted peanuts dumped into a cold bottle of Dr. Pepper.
My father would eat creamed corn sandwiches, catsup on white bread or yellow mustard on bread. He crumbled up white loaf bread in a cold glass of milk and ate it with a spoon.

As a trained chef, I should be mortified to abuse a quiche so...but it's soooooo good.

(32,093 posts)My mom used to broil pork chops, steak, or whatever for dinner. She would use a broiler pan. We would take the slotted top off, and soak up the fat and juices with white bread--until she started trying to make us be somewhat healthy by buying whole wheat bread. It was almost as good with whole wheat bread, but not quite the same.
I used to think we were weird for eating this--until I read the rest of this thread. Ugh!
