I wrote a poem

[Bucky]

it's the first poem I've written in like a year

Solar

The world burns for us. We were made to burn the world.
We shake it by the ankles, and wait for dimes to jangle from its pockets
sorry bum
and we shake it, on the sidewalks of commerce,
and rejoice. It is light and it is warmth and it is ours for the taking.

You damn my oil but it is rich and deep
and every year we learn to shake deeper into
the quivering rocks for more. We shake it deeper
than myth and we drive!

You damn my rivers, but the world roils at our tides
and the currents flow out clear, sharp, and cleaner than life.

You damn my coal, but I believe in Santa Claus
and evil as I am, I will have coal in my stocks forever.

You...
You wait for the sun to light up your nights
and propel your trucks and turbines
and you wait
and wait you some more

North Carolina and I know
the sun is dangerous and the grounds around your great blue panels
grow dry and the grass shrivels brown when you suck the fire from the sun.

Where will you go when there's no more sunlight?

I have my plans ready. And you
will never shake them out of me.
