Lots of instrumentals made the Top 100, too--
Love Is Blue
Time Is Tight
Classical Gas
Theme from Romeo and Juliet
Grazin' in the Grass
A few Bubblegum songs even made it to the Top 100
Yummy, Yummy, Yummy (Yeah, I actually liked to skate to that song)
Simple Simon Says
1-2-3 Red Light
And then there was that long song (sung by a future Dumbledore) that people love to hate (although I love it):
MacArthur Park!

So I am going with Album of the year (and all time I believe)
Sargeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
which appears to be blocked on youtube.
So most of you can probably play it in your head.

According to the link in post #34 above, the number 1 song that year was Sugar, Sugar, by the Archies. How lame! How embarrassing! How pedestrian! Especially when preceded by Hey, Jude for 1968, and followed by Bridge Over Troubled Water for 1970.
