(10,575 posts)The Orbital ATK Cygnus launched on top of an Atlas V rocket is thought to cost around $13,182 (£9,453) per pound.
Nasa told MailOnline the gorilla suit was sent to the ISS as part of Commander Kelly's personal baggage allowance in the recent Orbital ATK Cygnus resupply mission.
The suit was thought to have been a California Costumes suit, weighing 4.3lbs.
Using this as a guide, the gorilla costume shipped to the ISS in a cargo spacecraft that arrived in December cost an estimated $56,683 (£40,449) in total to send into orbit.
The cost of sending material up in the Soyuz space capsule along with Tim Peake is around $3,058 (£2,190) per pound.
