Evert night when I crawl into bed my kitty (very large Main Coonish) must jump in, sometimes before I can even get my covers on, and purrs in expectation of his head and ear rubs. His spot on the bed is where I would put my feed if it was clear, so I either must keep my legs curled or use sig others space to stretch out. 
Yes, I, too, get the "am I not adorable?" routine. It's actually very cute and never fails to make me smile and hand out some tummy rubs.
But hah, most of you posters are getting off easy. My cats lack subtlety, doing things like knocking the phone out of my hand while I'm talking. If that doesn't work, they climb on my chest and insert themselves between me and the phone receiver. I've finally figured that I have a 2-minute window to get my message across before being cut off by a cat.
When guests come over, it's the same thing with the jump-on-the-chest trick. My guest cannot see my face, as I am talking into the side of a cat.
