I almost lost my 14 y.o. fuzzball to a potted Easter Lily a few years back.
Keep them out of kitty homes!

(15,223 posts)I've been aware of that for years, but I sincerely appreciate you posting to warn cat owners who may not be.
Thank you, and I echo the sympathies for the loss of your fuzzball.

Are all lilies poisonous to cats?
Members of the Lilium and Hermerocallis genera are toxic to cats. This includes: Easter lilies, day lilies, Tiger lilies, and Stargazer lilies. Other plants with 'lily' in the name, such as peace lily (Spathiphyllum) or lily-of-the-valley (Convallaria), do not cause the kidney injury associated with members of Lilium and Hemerocallis, although some of these plants are toxic in their own right (e.g., Convallaria is toxic to the heart).

(1,752 posts)right away to get vomitting induced and kidneys flushed.... because by the time you see symptoms - its too late, and I wasn't about to wait around to see if my cat would die or not. The kidneys can shut down within hours. Thankfully he never had symptoms - and hes OK, no sign of kidney damage, but good god - what a needless worry and stress to the cat. Poor guy! One minute he's having a nice day in the sun - next minute Im carting him to the hospital and they're sticking needles in him and making him puke.
GET RID OF ALL Hemarocallis and Lillium - not worth it! This is especially necessary if cat is indoors or in a cat enclosure - these are cats more likely to nibble on things they shouldn't.
