(56,829 posts)I think it looks great.

(56,829 posts)complaining about a female lead in the movie. I'm sure it will have as much of an effect as it did on The Force Awakens.

(37,748 posts)I enjoyed the trailer. More acculturate, I loved the trailer. Though it looks much less family-oriented than was Force Awakens, that's not necessarily a bad thing if the franchise is simply diversifying its product to allow more appeal to particular demographics.
As for the poor, oppressed MRAs, well... a few hyper-sensitive, rather shrill, and overly-emotional souls may have noticed a very small disturbance in the Force, as if dozens of voices cried out in terror, and were suddenly ignored.

(56,829 posts)I'm sure I'll be seeing it opening weekend.

(63,224 posts)Specifically, she was awesome! She totally dominated the film every time she was onscreen. I don't know where they found her, but they should double whatever they're paying her.
The casting this time around was excellent across the board. We saw more character in any 10 second snippet than in the entire 7-hour prequel crapfest.
Fuck those MRA assholes and their stupid, ill-informed opinions.

(56,829 posts)she really bombed in her first audition, but then somehow got called back and it was a complete 180.

(63,224 posts)The film has its detractors, and there are undeniably conspicuous echoes of EP4, but it's clear that the one person in the universe who utterly fails to understand Star Wars is George Lucas.
there are certainly a lot of similarities with Episode 4, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The movie, though, certainly recaptured the feel of the original trilogy.
I'll have to see if I can find the article on Ridley's first audition bombing.
Orrex
(63,224 posts)If I have one criticism, it's that it suffers from the same weird timeline as the rest of the series.
It seems to take place in less than about 24 hours, which is a remarkably short time in which to become aware of a superweapon, plot a mission to sabotage it, and execute that mission, all while bantering with pirates and wizened light saber-keepers and then find and visit a reclusive Jedi Master.
Hell, Finn and Rey didn't even have time to change clothes.
That's a busier 24 hours than CTU Agent Jack Bauer ever logged!
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)she said her first two auditions didn't feel right, but then something clicked on the 3rd.

(56,829 posts)that line could have been uttered by Han Solo and not been out of place.
OriginalGeek
(12,132 posts)but I already love Han.
If marketing isn't already on it, they probably will be soon. "I Rebel" is ripe for tag-lining meme-ing.
the problem is if you haven't seen the clip you might be thinking I Rebel is a southern version of I Robot.
