People Suck.

I waited ten years to buy a new (used vehicle). My last one was twelve years old with 189,000 miles . Last week I got one from a rental car agency with just 17,000 miles on it. It is everything I wanted. I have not even had it a week. I have been parking it at the very end of the lot as far from the door as possible. I came out today to a large door ding and white paint in three spots on my door. Some idiot threw open their door. Then there were scratches in the clear coat. The obviously leaned against the car while they unloaded or whatever.

No note. Nothing. The person probably did not even care. It makes me just sick.

down for twice what you need to fix it--or you'll report them to the cops for leaving the scene.

Sometimes, you gotta lean on assholes who suck.

Car wise, I've had one brand new one in my whole life and that was more than forty years ago. Since then, my vehicle choices have been made by what I could afford at the time, with no consideration to color or sound systems or upholstery or even MPG.

A few years ago I was able, with the help of a family member, to purchase an accessible car that was more than 10 years old and had 130K on the odometer. It's still the nicest car I've ever owned. Within days of buying it I came out one morning to find that someone had keyed the length of both sides, making sure that I knew they were objecting to my bumper stickers. Given that I live in a very red area, it was disappointing if not surprising. I chose to respond by multiplying the number of stickers.

On the upside, my handicap plates let me park next to entrance of most shopping places, giving those stickers some decent visibility. There have been quite a few conversations with passers-by over those stickers, most of them quite civil; and I thank them for choosing conversation instead of vandalism, then I show them the scratches. So far, the Republicans I've chatted with have had the grace to be angrier about the scratches than the stickers.

Onward.
