Fun inspirational signs in my town

There is a family in town that posts these cool signs in their yard (changing them often), so anyone driving into town can see them. They are often accompanied by a plywood cartoon character.

I loved this latest one.

Your mind is a garden
Your thoughts are the seeds
You can grow flowers
Or you can grow weeds.

How cool is that?

traveling with my parents all over the midwest. They've all been taken down now and the country is poorer for it.

We found them from Colorado to California. They were great fun for a kid on a long tedious drive.

My Dad always got a kick out of them, would read them aloud. And he would find old radio shows when we were in the car, too, the kind with sound effects like creaking doors. It sure kept us entertained.

When I was a kid, a lifetime ago, my family would drive to Maine from MA. At the time, the roads were not like today's highways. Secondary roads and very few major roads. Every few miles we would see the Burma Shave signs on the passengers side of the road. It was my job to read the sequential bits of the message as we traveled in our 1956 Chevy.

The good old days.....Sorry things are not as simple now.
