The Eighth Duke of Bridgewater

Lord Francis Henry Egerton, the 8th Duke of Bridgewater, knew few people, yet his table was always set and a dozen servers were in attendance. He threw dinner parties for his favorite dogs, the dogs were dressed in the finest fashions of the day, right down to dog-sized shoes. Each was seated in his own armchair with a napkin tied about his neck. Egerton never married and his title was extinguished with his death.

An animal lover, Egerton kept partridges and pigeons with clipped wings in his garden, allowing him to shoot them despite failing eyesight.
