The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI'll be rejoining the world come Monday morning.
I'm a member of what you might call a day care center for wheelchair bound folk. Members include MS victims, stroke victims, car crash victims (those turned into quadriplegics because of broken backs or necks), and so on. Just this year they finished a major addition to their complex that includes a fully staffed therapy/exercise room, an Olympic-sized swimming pool with therapy access, a magnificent gymnasium with indoor track, and much more. It's this place that helped advance me from a flat-on-my-back state to restoring my body to the point that I am now using a walker.
It's time I stopped goofing off and went back to work, so to speak. Even though my therapy workouts are a major part of my three times a week visits, I REALLY look forward to the free coffee. I miss my cuppa first thing in the morning.
BTW, the name of this place is Turnstone. It's in Fort Wayne Indiana. They also have a school and therapy program for disadvantaged children. They also have just hired a professional massage therapist, and are staffing a care program for Alzheimer's victims.
Hope you have such a center close to where you live. If not, why the hell not???
