Lupita Nyong'o In Talks To Join Black Panther
With his fantastic debut in the recently released Captain America: Civil War, fans have been eagerly awaiting more news concerning the upcoming Black Panther solo film, which is slated for a February 2018 release. We already know that Ryan Coogler, who has written and directed both Fruitvale Station and Creed, will direct the upcoming feature, and Chadwick Boseman will reprise his role as the titular character. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has also teased that fans can expect more casting news to hit over the next few months as production is set to kick off in early 2017, so it isnt too surprising that the folks over at The Hollywood Reporter are hearing that actress Lupita Nyongo is in talks for an undisclosed role in the upcoming film.
Lupita Nyongo, who won an Oscar for her performance in 12 years a Slave, is in negotiations to star opposite Chadwick Boseman in Marvel Studios Black Panther.
Nyongos character has not been revealed although she will be the Panthers love interest.
Panther has a February 2, 2018 release date with production aiming to start in early 2017.
Interestingly enough, it was revealed that Nyongo was apparently being eyed to join Thor: Ragnarok originally before that role went to Tessa Thompson, so its obvious that Marvel has had their eye on the actress for awhile now. Its also worth noting that Nyongo has built a relationship with Disney, having appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Jungle Book, and shes set to headline The Queen of Katwe later this year.
