’Supergirl’ Officially Moves To The CW For Season 2

Since the beginning of the year, fans of CBS’ Supergirl have been waiting for some news about the show’s future. The CW renewed all their DC/Vertigo TV shows in March with The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow and iZombie, while Fox renewed Gotham for a third season as well as granting their new Vertigo series, Lucifer, a second season. At that point, Supergirl was the only DC Comics TV show that was waiting to get a renewal and recently it was revealed that discussions were happening about moving the show over to The CW.

Warner Bros. TV officially announced today that the Girl of Steel will in fact be moving over to The CW for her second season. Supergirl which comes from executive producers Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Ali Adler, has been on the bubble throughout its first season with the ratings having slipped throughout the year.

The show will be moving to Vancouver, Canada as previously reported when discussions had just first started. While not part of the official announcement, it is safe to say that they will somehow be merging Supergirl into The Flash/Arrow/Legends of Tomorrow Universe through something like a Flashpoint or Crisis event. There had been concerns that due to some budget cuts that will be coming that some cast members would be trimmed off the main group, but it appears that everyone is coming back for the second season.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, David Harewood as J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant and Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott.
