(38,002 posts)If you're talking about the reeds-in-a-bottle kind, I find them to be kind of meh. They don't put out a lot of scent and the setup is easily tipped over.
I prefer wax melts but they must be monitored. If you want continuous scent then perhaps you might want to go with a plug-in, those intermittent poofy ones or a good solid freshener.

(1,232 posts)Those electric diffuser things advertised on tv freak me out. Most of them have formaldehyde and even incense has higher toxicity than tobacco. Scented candles are another serious health problem as well.
There is debate on essential oils, the common concurrence is to stay with the types that really are all natural. Anything else can be toxic.
For nice smells, I go with the occasional non-aerosol room sprays and Febreeze is my go to 'de-funk-ifier' if ever there's a need. Mostly, I just keep things clean and the windows open....
