I just bought some health insurance.

The wonderful people at my last employer chose to cancel my insurance before the end of the month. I was under the impression that my insurance would be good until the end of the month. That's the way it worked for me at previous jobs. Ah, well.

It's not a Cadillac plan, but it will keep us from owing a million dollars if something really bad happens over the next three months. It's got good prescription drug coverage and both me and my wife are covered. I think we caught a break on the premium because we don't make a lot of money.

#1. Did they (your former employer) offer you the opportunity for COBRA?

#2. Did you pay toward your insurance? e.g. did you have money taken out of your pay.

I had three paychecks in July and they deducted for health insurance on all three. The last one was on the 15th.
