I think that was one of the finest hours of television I've ever seen.

(3,469 posts)I like it for the music but it has been a bit uneven quality-wise. I might have used a bit of hyperbole in describing last night's episode but the music was phenomenol. Both Jackson Browne and Eddie Vedder were in it plus some others I wasn't as familiar with but who were really good. If I were to make a list of my top ten favorite musicians, Eddie and Jackson would make the top 5 so I'm a bit biased there.
That's the thing about Cameron Crowe. When he is good he is very good and when he's not so good, the music is still awesome.

(10,098 posts)It is on my list, I'll have to watch a few to see if I like it, thanks for the heads up. After I'm done with Preacher on AMC.

(3,469 posts)It took me a while to get into it but I loved the music from the very beginning.

(10,098 posts)I'll give it some episodes, that is often the case with ensemble casts.

(53,339 posts)One I really liked was the episode with Halsey, and the celeb photographer. That was fun to watch more than once.

(3,469 posts)So as soon as it was over last night, I watched it again. It wasn't all that phenomenol story-wise but the music was so good, I'd buy a soundtrack of last night's episode.

(41,987 posts)It's not great but I love the negative space, the abs nice of Phil and the fact that you never hear the guy they're working for. That's contrived but kind of cool.
I expect they'll cancel it but it's a good diversion when Trump makes me want to pull my eyeballs out.

I've really been looking for anything to watch (or have on in the background) to get away from Trump and the news channels. I've been a bit disappointed in the show mainly because I had high hopes. It grew on me though and I loved last nights episode. I hope they don't cancel it.
I wish there were more shows on TV that had good music. If I win the lotto, I am going to start a new channel that is all about the music. Not like MTV or VH1 though. My channel is going to have great music documentaries like "The Last Waltz" and the 2004 Vote For Change Concert documentary, reruns of old variety shows with great musical performances, reruns of shows like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and old Grammys, movie musicals and movies with really great soundtracks like "A Walk on the Moon," "The Graduate" and "Harold and Maude." It will be a channel for people who like to have the tv on but don't really like to watch it all that much. It will be called the PAM Channel for "Pretty Awesome Music" Channel. (I just made that last part up.)
A good music channel would be a great go-to when it just all gets too weird.
