My wife is donating a kidney to my mother

My wife is donating a kidney to my mother. I'm in the waiting room right now, and beginning to get a little scared -- we're in overtime, so to speak. This is shameless, I know, but keep your fingers crossed for us, okay? My stepdad is snoring (loudly) and my 15 year old is whining about not owning a cat (I'm allergic).

If there was ever a doubt in my mind of whether or not she loved me, it is gone now. There wasn't, but this certainly clears up any future confusion!

And at least 3 seasons of Law & Order on DVD. Assuming that everything goes welledically, it sounds like a pretty I eventful recovery! Plus we've got a killer view of Grant Park and the Field Museum.

My dad ran out on us when I was little, so it was just me and mom for a long time. She managed to get a PhD and climb her career ladder to the top. My wife has 2 master's degrees and has numerous scholarship offers for various law schools. Both are kind and generous to a fault.

My wife will be coming "home" to our hotel tomorrow. 36 hours later and she's walking tall and feeling very bored. Mom's starting to come around, too.

...it's actually more rare for someone not to be a match. More amazing, to me, is my incredible wife, because a willing, living, healthy donor is still pretty damned rare. Thank you for the kind thoughts.
