It isn't. It is being used for the finals campaign of the Hawthorn Football Club who are a part of the Australian Football League. They are also known as the Hawks which is why it is the main bird for this video.

When youre little, people tell you things like, Follow your dreams and theyll come true. But no one is ever like, Hey, watch out, your nightmares could one day turn into reality. Probably because that doesnt look as good in bubble letters hanging on the wall of an elementary school gym.
Thats too bad, though, as a family in Melbourne found out when a hawk dropped a snake onto their picnic. The video of the seemingly real occurrence was both horrifying and somewhat funny and got shared a lot on the good ol internet, with commentary along the lines of, check out this hawk dropping a snake on a picnic ahhhh!
Except, as The Huffington Post figured out, it was all faked and staged by Hawthorn FC an Australian rules football club whose mascot is a hawk to drum up attention for its upcoming season. When the Huffington Post reached out to Douglas Wong, the YouTuber who posted the video, the response they got was that his inbox was already very busy. He did say, however, that the footage was real.
But it wasnt. The team eventually fessed up, announcing that they had partnered with a Melbourne media production company called The Woolshed to make a video that would encapsulate the clubs finals theme and generate widespread media coverage. How a hawk dropping a snake onto a picnic does that is beyond me. We are living in wild times. Also, Douglas Wong isnt a real person. I mean, Im sure there are people named Douglas Wong out there in the world, but none of them are the ones who posted a video of hawk to that account.

(34,136 posts)Nobody speculated about that.
Having had spiders (http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018875607), cockroaches, frogs and lizards dropped on me as well as various unsavory substances, I wanted to know what kind of snake a hawk could dump in my lap if I should ever go to Australia. I guess it will just have to be a surprise!

She's gone - I now have lots of huge ravens.

(2,979 posts)and it had a dead palm tree in one corner and a hawk would perch there and just chill for hours.
Then, some landscapers knocked it down one day and I never saw the hawk again.
