I've never been down there, but friends have told me it's a very nice place to be a tourist. Supposedly corrupt as all hell with lots of payouts and bribes if you want to settle down there (so I was told, anyway), but just a joy to visit for a few weeks, as you never have to deal with corrupt bureaucrats.

Granted I stayed at an all inclusive resort, but the food there was locally sourced and pretty diverse.

on every menu. I did grow tired of it as it was the cheapest and I ate it daily. Sitting now in the LA airport waiting for my flight to Tucson and then the long drive home. I loved Costa Rica but agree about the cuisine. I guess I'll have another overpriced NB airport beer.....

We were there earlier in the year. And as it happens, I too turned 66, shortly after we got back.

remind me that I still have a leak in the roof (that I can't locate).
I love what the rain does for the vegetation. Costa Rica is so green, I'm sure the jungle would overtake everything quickly if it wasn't constantly cut back.
I'll bet your cattle are happy.
